What is counselling?
Counselling is a process that aims to help you reach your own decisions and make your own choices in life.
It is not about giving advice, making decisions for you or imposing opinions on you.
I will not tell you what to do. My role is to help and support you towards your own solutions. In that way, you can be sure it will be the way that will work best for you. My commitment is to help you find a way of living that suits your individual needs and beliefs.
Counselling is about looking at and talking about thoughts and feelings. It is an opportunity to begin to explore underlying causes and addressing options and possibilities. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive and therapeutic setting to support you whilst working through a conflict or difficulty, providing a space to reflect upon a painful experience in confidence.
Could counselling help me?
Many of us, can at some stage in our lives experience problems and difficulties. We may feel confused, stressed and alone.
These difficulties may come in many forms, often from an immediate crisis or as a result of ongoing worries.
I will invite you, in the strictest of confidence, to begin to talk through whatever has brought you to counselling. This will enable me to gain a clearer understanding, whilst developing and supporting your ability to cope.
Some people are often unsure as to what is actually troubling them. They may feel low, depressed and of being overwhelmed, a sense perhaps of life being off-balance.
My way of working is to help you identify the cause of the feelings and to begin to work through your worries and concerns and if possible to resolve them.
